It feels like every year when I sit down to write this post, it’s been about five minutes since I wrote the last one. Funny how when my friends and I walked into Grant Park for the first time on Thursday afternoon, we joked that it felt like we had never left.
Sylvan Esso is making music that sounds like nothing else out there right now. After forming in 2014 after working on a variety of other projects, singer Amelia Meath and Producer Nick Sanborn have been continuously pushing the envelope indie pop music with a unique live performance, complete with crystal clear vocals from Meath and live production from Sanburn.
As 2018 continues, I’m happy to say that it’s May and I’ve continued writing about every show I’ve attended this year. It’s no easy feat and trying to find time to write about my experiences takes a lot of will power – but I’m going to try really hard to keep going! I Recently I had the chance to attend another two concerts in Chicago – the first was a show from Norwegian pop singer Dagny featuring support from Baum (one of my current faves) at the Subterranean in Wicker Park – and New York natives Sunflower Bean at Lincoln Hall with support from female rockers Dream Wife.
September 1st marks the (unofficial) start of fall and I’m too excited for these shows hitting Chicago in the next few months.
There are SO many great artists visiting Chicago during the fall but I chose to highlight these 10! I’m hoping to get to at least half of these (I have tickets to four of them so far), and I hope that you learn something or even buy tickets after reading this post!
Here we go: the final recap post of my four post installation of my Lollapalooza 2017 Weekend. This was a lot of writing and a LOT of will power to keep going – but I’m glad to see that there was interest in reading these posts!

For another quick recap, I separated my Lollapalooza 2017 posts by day this year after my Twitter followers voted for me to post them separate compared to one long post reviewing the entire weekend.
This past weekend, I had the opportunity to go to Mamby On the Beach, a music festival in Chicago that is just three years old. I had not gone in previous years, although artists appearing on the lineups like LANY, Bishop Briggs, Chet Faker, Phantogram, Betty Who and Gallant (to name a few) caught my interest in years past. I decided to go this year on a whim because once my best friend and I realized that Local Natives was on the lineup, we knew we had to go.
