Spring 2018 Playlist

Lesson 2.8-7.png

As I type this, it’s snowing outside. So as much as I want it to be spring, I guess we’re just not there yet. However, it was time to start a new playlist, as my winter playlist racked up over 16 hours of music and I needed a new outlook.

To make this post more relevant to my Chicago-based readers, I put an asterisk next to artists that have upcoming shows here.

You can follow this playlist on Spotify. Enjoy!

New Music Sunday – 3/11/2018

Happy Sunday! I’ve had a busy weekend, again, so I’m keeping this post short and sweet. Hopefully things will slow down for me and I will be able to go back to writing blurbs with each track. As always, you can follow each playlist here and here on Spotify.

If you represent an artist who wants to be featured or are your own representative, feel free to send pitches to kstahlke94@gmail.com.

Celebrate International Women’s Day with These Female Musicians

Happy #InternationalWomensDay, ladies! I’m so happy to be sharing this post to highlight some of my favorite upcoming female musicians: what better day to post than today? Below are a few of my favorite females I’ve been listening to lately. Enjoy and be sure to tell the fabulous women in your life how much they mean to you!

I have a handful of female musicians that I have written about more than once, so I tried to keep it fresh with some newer artists I’ve been listening to recently (but I have featured a couple these before – not to this extent). I love having the platform to write and share my interests because I know based on experience that these sorts of things can really help an artist out, and who doesn’t like free promo?

A Q&A With Triple Threat Brittany Campbell

By Andrew Weber.JPG

If you haven’t heard of Brittany Campbell yet – you will. A classic triple (or quadruple) threat – she can sing, act, dance – and even dabbles in animation.

Brittany has been building her career since she was only 5-years-old. You can currently find her in Chicago, performing as Angelica Schuyler in the cultural phenomenon otherwise known as Hamilton. She also had a role in Netflix’s revival of “She’s Gotta Have It,” playing the character Black Diamond. If you don’t think her resumé is impressive already…she got her start performing in the Metropolitan Opera’s Chorus in New York City…all during her young teen years. Before her move to Chicago for Hamilton, Campbell has had broadway experience in A Christmas Carol and studied music at Carnegie Melon – a university that has been described as “the destination for the academically gifted musician.”

Show Review: Elliot Root Brings Soul to Schubas

Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to see Elliot Root perform at Schubas Tavern – a performance venue and bar in Lakeview. I had discovered Elliot Root months ago on Spotify – the streaming service that I always praise. Spotify has continued to do a great job at giving me new artists to listen to and really is a phenomenal tool that continues to find me new music that matches my tastes.
