Met Gala 2016

Met gala 2016Fashion in the age of technology

The 2016 Met Gala brought a lot of interesting outfit choices: the good, the bad, and the plain old ugly. This year’s theme was “Fashion in the Age of Technology,” a theme that many people decided to stray away from (Blake Lively, you look beautiful, but where is your loyalty to themes?!)

What originally started off as a WHOLE lot of silver dresses ended up being a variety of colors represented on the red carpet. Each person attending the event had their unique spin on theme, and I created my list of favorite looks with keeping that in mind. If you don’t stick to the theme, you shouldn’t be considered as best dressed!

Here are some of my favorites:

Met Gala White

Jennifer Hudson in H&M, Karlie Kloss in Brandon Maxwell, Rosie Huntington-Whitley in Ralph Lauren Collection

Green MG

Horizon Guardiola in Monique Lhuiller, Lorde in Valentino, Kendall Jenner in Atelier Versace

Met Gala Blue

Allison Williams in Peter Pilotto, Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa, Mackenzie Davis in Altuzarra

Met Gala Silver

Poppy Delevingne in Marchesa, Alessandra Ambrosio in Balmain, Juno Temple in Erdem

Met Gala Gold

Rachel McAdams in Valentino, Zendaya in Michael Kors, Kate Bosworth in Dolce & Gabbana

Met Gala Black

Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen, Kristen Stewart in Chanel, Nicole Kidman in Alexander McQueen

Clare Danes gets her own section because of how absolutely amazing her dress was. This gorgeous creation was made by Zac Posen (surprisingly enough, because I tend to not like his designs). It even LIT UP!!!

Let’s talk letdowns.

Everyone knows I have loyalty to Taylor Swift, but I think she could have done better (and has done better). Kudos to her for sticking to the theme, though, and for being this year’s Co-Chair.

In regards to worst dressed, what exactly was Beyoncé wearing?! I hate it a lot. I have to give the Worst Dressed award to Demi Lovato, though.

What were some of your favorites at the Met Gala this year? Let me know! And while you’re at it, see what I thought about last year’s event.
