2015 Video Music Awards

So, as you all know, I love a good award show (despite the fact that award shows are never good). I love keeping up with every terrible joke, awkward stumble, and mediocre performance that takes place at the various award shows throughout the year. However, none of these shows quite live up to the mess that is the Video Music Awards.

Over the past five years or so, the VMAS have definitely gone downhill: having Miley Cyrus host the show does not help the cause. The show hasn’t had a host since Kevin Hart in 2012, so it’s clear that MTV was doing what it had to do in order to get some ratings.

Fast forward through the uncomfortable jokes, (F*** the stripper police? Really?) and there wasn’t much to pay attention to. I’ll share my favorite moments of the night.

It’s obvious that I absolutely adore Taylor Swift, so the moment she popped up onstage to open the show with Nicki Minaj was a major moment for me. Did anyone get a chance to catch her premiere of her new video? What are your thoughts? Watch it here.

Next up: Tori Kelly. Her showstopping performance of “Should Have Been Us” was a highlight of an all around awful awards show. Watch it here.

I am not even going to go into Kayne’s 10+ minute speech, because it’s been two days and I have yet to process 95% of the things he said.

And finally, my favorite moment of the night was Twenty One Pilots’ performance with A$AP Rocky. It was definitely interesting to see them up onstage with some of the biggest pop stars in music and completely hold their own. Great job as always!

Here are my favorite Red Carpet looks:

VMA Pink

Vanessa Hudgens, Demi Lovato, Greer Grammar

Pattern VMA

Cara Delevingne, Taylor Swift, Katie Stevens (my personal favorite!)

Dark VMA

Lily Aldridge, Halsey, Chrissy Teigen
